The New York Times Film Review: 'The Skyjacker's Tale'

While it falls somewhere short of being a great documentary, “The Skyjacker’s Tale” may have one of the great documentary gets. It tells the story of Ishmael Muslim Ali, who in 1973, when he was called Ishmael LaBeet, was convicted along with four other men of murdering eight people in a shooting at the Fountain Valley Golf Course in St. Croix, V.I., in 1972. Whether the crime was a botched robbery or an episode of racially motivated violence is the subject of debate. (Seven of the eight victims were white and all five suspects were black.) Read more -
